7. Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver

Important: Martial arts training involves physical contact and inherent risks of injury. Please read this section carefully.

By participating in any Champions program, class, event, or activity, you acknowledge and voluntarily assume all risks associated with martial arts training and physical fitness activities, including but not limited to the risk of sprains, strains, fractures, bruises, concussions, and other physical injuries.

You agree that Champions Martial Arts Academy, its owners, instructors, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be held liable for any injury, loss, damage, or claim arising from your participation in our programs, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.

If you are registering a minor, you assume these risks on their behalf and agree to this waiver as their parent or legal guardian. You further agree that you will not bring any claim against Champions on behalf of the minor for injuries sustained during participation in our programs.

Separate liability waiver forms may be required at the time of registration or before participation in certain activities. These waivers supplement and do not replace this section.

8. Health and Safety

You are responsible for ensuring that you (or your child) are physically fit to participate in martial arts training. You agree to disclose any relevant medical conditions, injuries, allergies, or limitations during registration and to update this information promptly if circumstances change.

Champions reserves the right to require a medical clearance from a licensed healthcare provider before allowing participation in any program if we have reason to believe a health condition may affect the safety of the participant or others.

Participants are expected to follow all safety rules, respect the instructions of our coaching staff, and conduct themselves in a manner that is safe and respectful to all students and staff. Failure to comply may result in removal from class or termination of membership.

9. After-School Program

Champions offers an after-school pickup and program service for students at select North Vancouver schools. By enrolling your child in this program, you authorize Champions staff to pick up your child from the designated school and transport them to our facility.

Parents and guardians are responsible for providing accurate pickup authorization details and communicating any changes to scheduling or pickup arrangements in advance. Champions will exercise reasonable care in transporting and supervising students but is not responsible for delays caused by school scheduling changes, traffic, weather, or other factors beyond our control.

The after-school program is subject to availability and additional terms communicated at the time of enrolment.

10. Code of Conduct

All students, parents, and visitors at Champions are expected to uphold the values that define our community: discipline, respect, confidence, and integrity. Specifically, you agree to:

  • Treat all students, instructors, staff, and visitors with respect and courtesy
  • Follow the instructions and guidance of coaching staff during all classes and activities
  • Refrain from aggressive, abusive, discriminatory, or disruptive behaviour
  • Use martial arts skills learned at Champions responsibly and never offensively outside of sanctioned training
  • Maintain proper hygiene and wear appropriate training attire
  • Respect the facility, equipment, and personal property of others

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent termination of membership at the sole discretion of Champions management.

11. Photographs, Videos, and Media

Champions may photograph or record classes, events, belt promotions, and other activities for use on our website, social media platforms, marketing materials, and promotional content. By enrolling and participating in our programs, you grant Champions a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use your image or likeness (or that of your enrolled child) for these purposes.

If you do not wish to have your image or your child's image used in promotional materials, you must notify us in writing at the time of enrolment or at any point thereafter. 17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or your use of our services shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation between the parties. If a resolution cannot be reached, the dispute shall be submitted to the courts of competent jurisdiction in the Province of British Columbia, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

19. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Continued use of our website or services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

We encourage you to review these Terms periodically to stay informed of any updates.

Any Questions?

Do I need any martial arts experience to start at Champions?

No experience needed. Every beginner starts with a free private 1-on-1 intro lesson before joining group classes — kids and adults alike.

Is martial arts safe for my child?

Yes. Our kids martial arts classes use age-appropriate curriculum, professional mats, and certified instructors personally trained by our World Champion founders — safely serving North Vancouver families for over 30 years.

What age can my child start martial arts?

Children can start as young as age 4. We offer structured programs by age group — Little Champions (4–6), Future Champions (7–12), and Teen programs (13–17) — each built around confidence, discipline, and self-defense.

Will martial arts make my child aggressive?

The opposite. Martial arts teaches self-control, respect, and discipline. Parents consistently report their children become more focused and respectful at home and school.

What martial arts styles do you teach?

Champions offers Mixed Martial Arts (SKF system), Karate, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), and SKF Cardio Fitness — all under one roof. No other North Vancouver school offers this range.

Can adults start martial arts with no experience or fitness background?

Absolutely. Many of our adult martial arts students joined specifically because they wanted something more engaging than a gym. Instructors meet you at your level — beginner to advanced.

What makes Champions different from other martial arts schools in North Vancouver?

World Champion founders, 30+ years of proven results, 10,000 sq ft facility, 600+ active students, and multi-discipline training 7 days a week — no other North Shore school matches this combination.

How do I get started?

Book your free private intro lesson, attend a 1-on-1 session with zero pressure, and we'll recommend the right program for your goals. It takes less than a minute to book.
